Sensational claims have been made into the rape and murder case of the 31-year-old junior doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Hospital. Dr. Subarna Goswami suggested that she was gang-raped. According to reports, Dr. Goswami said the nature of injuries inflicted on the trainee doctor cannot be the handiwork of one person.
Dr Goswami said the post-mortem report mentioned 151 mg (i.e. 15.1 ml) of liquid from the victim's vaginal swab. "That quantity cannot be of one person. It suggests the involvement of multiple people," Dr Goswami, who is also the additional general secretary of the All India Federation of Govt Doctors' Association, said.
The doctor said even the family of the victim suspected the role of multiple people behind the brutal incident, which has triggered nationwide outrage and protests by doctors in several states. "The nature of injuries and force used cannot be the handiwork of one person," Dr Goswami further said.
The post-mortem report revealed that the trainee doctor was throttled before being smothered to death. Her thyroid cartilage was broken due to strangling and a deep wound was found in her private parts, the report said.
